Animal Nirvana Sanctuary

AnimalNirvana is a small private sanctuary in Spain’s Costa Blanca, offering rescued and sick domestic animals a safe, loving home and a chance to tell their stories.

A small group of rescued animals gathered peacefully in a sunlit Spanish countryside paddock, featuring a gentle chestnut donkey, a speckled white-and-brown goat, a golden mixed-breed dog, and a few relaxed tabby cats lounging in the grass. They rest beneath the shade of an old olive tree, with rolling green hills of the Costa Blanca and distant white-washed village houses in soft focus. Warm late-afternoon golden hour light bathes their fur, creating soft highlights and long, gentle shadows. Photographic realism, eye-level composition with a shallow depth of field keeps the animals in sharp focus while the background fades into creamy bokeh, evoking a serene, safe, and loving sanctuary atmosphere.

A close-up, intimate portrait of an elderly sanctuary dog with grey muzzle and kind amber eyes, lying on a soft, handwoven blanket atop a rustic tiled terrace. The fur is slightly unkempt yet clean, showing fine individual hairs and subtle color variations. Behind, several potted herbs and geraniums sit on a low wall, out of focus. Late afternoon Costa Blanca sunlight streams in from the side, creating warm rim lighting around the dog’s head and casting a gentle shadow across the tiles. Photographic realism, extremely shallow depth of field that blurs the background into soft color patches, focusing on the dog’s expressive gaze and conveying a mood of gratitude, safety, and quiet companionship.

The story of LADY. This elegant sophisticated podenko is moving. She was found wondering on the N332, a motorway, in danger of being hit by the passing cars. A very shy dog as she is, with great effort a cardriver who almost hit her, got her into his car. He phoned his wife, who knew about a dogshelter nearby, and he dropped her off. Lady, as the sheltercarers named her, was weak and afraid of any human, especially men. She probably was an obsolete hunting dog, and as such abandoned, thrown away. Animal Heaven took her in and bit by bit she resocialized, was accepted by the other dogs. Now she even has got her own “thrown”. Though she still likes to roam free, she always comes back to the place where she is safe … Animal Heaven.
